Shim Gumdo “The way of the Sword”

The Korean sword art, with its origin about 371-384 AD, was developed in the northern border area between China and North Korea. The
students became known as Samurang. Believed by many to be possible influences on the beginnings of the Japanese Samurai.

The use of the sword is used as a means of self-defense. It was developed into an art, which applies very
diverse cutting angles, defensive and offensive postures and directions. Shim Gumdo training is based on
the battlefield tactics used against multiple opponents.
The training includes:
* Meditation and breathing
* Form Practice
* One step & 3 step sparring self-defense with sword
* Unarmed self-defense
These are a few of the areas that will be covered in your journey in the ancient art of the sword. For the
modern student this sword training will provide the dedicated practitioner the tools for physical, mental, and
spiritual development.
